“If the Lord wills it…” James 4:15
Lord, the calendar on my I-phone is full of appointments, events, reminders and to dos. My entire month is planned, laid out day by day. Yet, I may not live past sundown today. My best made plans will be upset if sudden death strikes. Nothing happens in this world without your knowledge or permission. Among the 7 billion people on this planet, I am unique. I have a place, a role, a definite purpose on earth. You didn’t create me to be a robot, blindly following a software program. Your gift of free will results from the dignity with which I was formed. Lord, may I use my freedom to choose a path that reflects your will, your dream for my life. Help me to make my plans and structure my days in complete dependence on you. Lord, I lay my future, today and all the years to come, in your loving and powerful hands. Guide my choices, priorities and plans this day. I am so grateful for every breath I take, every beat of my heart and every moment of this life. I surrender it all to you. Amen.
