James 3:13-18

Psalm 19

Mark 9:14-29

Who among you is wise and understanding? James 3:13

“Everything is possible to one who has faith.” Mark 9:23

Lord, the wisdom of the world tells us to “look out for number one.” We’ve also heard that we must be ready because “it’s a dog-eat-dog world.” James reminds us that to live our faith and the Christian life we must choose to seek our heavenly wisdom verses earthly wisdom. Jealousy and selfish ambition are false attributes and these lead to darkness. Rather true wisdom, that which comes from God, is peaceful, gentle, compliant, merciful, fruitful, constant and sincere. Whew, that’s a mouthful. These virtues don’t come naturally to me until I choose them in faith. They are a better path because they reflect your commandment of love. Lord, help my unbelief in the power of your plan for my life. Open my heart today to practice these virtues that please you. Show me how to respond to temptation in ways that reveal the power of your grace. I believe your ways are the best.  Amen.
