James 3:1-10

Psalm 12

Mark 9:2-13

The promises of the Lord are sure… Ps. 12:7

And he was transfigured before them…  Mark 9:2

Lord, life is hard. We all need hope and encouragement to keep going when times are tough. You had just informed your followers of your upcoming suffering and death. You also assured them you would rise after three days but that part they seemed to not hear. You next laid out the total commitment required of discipleship. They then had six days for those realities to sink in. To snap them out of their funk you revealed your divine glory. They saw who you were. You blessed them with a preview of your resurrection. How many times must they have recalled this day when doubt or fear or temptation tried to steal their faith. In your glory they learned the cross was necessary on the road to Resurrection. They saw that death does not have the final word. Lord may my faith be encouraged by you today. May my hope be solid and strong. May I be transfigured like you with the light and power of your grace. Thank you for giving us a preview of eternal life with you. I trust in all your promises.  Amen.
