James 1:19-27

Psalm 15

Mark 8:22-26

Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves.  Ja. 1:22

…people brought to him a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.  Mk. 8:22

Lord, you took pity on the blind man who was brought to you by his friends. How blessed this man was to have people of faith in his life who cared and hoped in you giving him sight. They were doers of the word and not hearers only. Who am I in this story? Am I the man who is spiritually blind to so much of what you are doing in my life?  Am I the friend who cares about someone who is unable to help themselves, needing me to bring them to a place of healing? Am I you who can provide God’s word to open the eyes of someone who is blind to God’s love for them? Lord, there is so much spiritual blindness in our world today.  There is some of it in my own family, in my neighbors and in my community. I noticed that this man’s vision was healed in stages. So much of our spiritual journey requires time for us to meditate and pray for growth and transformation. Patience and perseverance are essential parts of our faith journey.  My prayer today is that you will strengthen me to “peer into the perfect law of freedom and persevere.” (James 1:25) Amen.
