1 Kings 3:4-13
Psalm: 119
Mark 6:30-34
“Give your servant an understanding heart…” 1 Kings 3:9
When Jesus disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them. Mk. 6:34
Lord, it takes a lifetime to learn to choose what’s best. Daily we stack our priorities. Solomon prayed for wisdom and understanding. He could have asked for riches, fame or an easy life. You were so pleased that he chose to ask for a good heart that you gave him those other things too. I believe you have an understanding heart, so you saw the needs of the crowd. I reflect on what’s most important to me? What’s my first priority? I hope that it is to know your will for me and to live it. Lord, do you understand that a lot of times I would choose other things like good for my children, spouse or myself? It’s so easy to focus on things of this world, distraction from what is truly most important. I believe that if I do my best to follow you and listen to your voice all else will work out for the best. Guide me to seek first your kingdom and then everything else will be given me as well. Like Solomon, I ask for an understanding heart that is open to whatever you wish to place there. Amen.
