Mark 6:7-13
He…began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. Mark 6:7
Lord, I wonder how ready the Apostles felt when you sent them on this their first mission? They hadn’t been with you very long. Nor had they formal theological training or experience at evangelization. It must have been like a parent teaching their child to swim by tossing them into the lake. They were to take on the powerful evil spirits that plague people. These dark spirits can seem overwhelming and beyond our control at times. They took little with them for the task but trust that they had all that they needed. They were to rely completely on you for everything. They likely made a lot of mistakes but in the end I’m sure you were very proud of their efforts. Lord, I rely too much on the stuff of the world and not enough on you. My faith in your power and strength sometimes is weak. Help me to trust more in your grace. Let me surrender to your ways of doing what you’ve placed me on this planet to do. I must remember it’s your message I proclaim and your abundant life I live. I pray for all who are under the influence of Satan. Amen.
