2 Samuel 11:1-4, 5-10, 13-17

Psalm 51

Mark 4:26-34

Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness; Ps. 51:3

…the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how.  Mk. 4:27

Lord, when a farmer plants a crop and properly cares for the soil it will yield fruit. He may not understand how seeds germinate; he just knows they do. There are many situations and events in life that I don’t understand either. Why do bad things happen to good and faithful people? Why do young children suffer terrible disease? Why does a young mother die in a car accident? Life experiences like these can test our confidence in you, Lord. I am weak and doubts can creep in when I don’t see things as you do. I don’t doubt your power or goodness, but the trials and difficulties of life can strain my faith and confidence in you, Lord. I am touched by King David’s psalm of sincere repentance. Despite his terrible sins, the seed of faith blossomed in him. So, Jesus in your mercy plant and nurture the seeds of trust and patient endurance in me. Bring on the spring rains of your grace to keep me strong when times get tough.  Remind me how many times you’ve had my back in the past. Thank you, good Lord, for hearing my prayer.  Amen
