Jesus did this…at Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him. John 2:11
Lord, I wasn’t invited to the wedding at Cana, but I wish I had been among those in attendance. At the beginning of your mission to reveal God to the people you used this occasion as your first sign. Your Mother trusted that you would do the right thing when there was no more wine. As amazing as changing water into wine is you gave the first sign of who you were. The occasion of a wedding shows us that love is the basis of the Father’s relationship with us. He wants to “marry” us and hold us close always. You became the “new wine” that brings joy to our hearts and assures us that you will always stand by us even in times when we run out of our own ways. I would have loved to taste the wine. At Mass today, like a wedding feast, heaven and earth will be connected and all in attendance will be united to you and our Father by the Holy Spirit. Your disciples began to believe in you as I do. “As a bridegroom rejoices in his bride so shall your God rejoice in you.” Is. 62:5. Thank you for rejoicing in me. Amen.
