2 Samuel 7:1-5, 8-12,14, 16

Psalm 89

Luke 1:6-79

“Go do whatever you have in mind, for the Lord is with you.”  2 Samuel 7:3

“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; for he has come to his people and set them free.  Lk. 1:69

Lord, we are all so blessed because you have given us faithful prophets like Nathan and Zechariah. Living hundreds of years apart they were of one mind: to do the will of God and to speak of how you will come to live among us and set us free from sin and death. You did not want a grand palace built by David. You wanted to live in the hearts and minds of the people you were preparing to redeem. After several months of being silent Zechariah’s first words were to praise you and to announce that you were near and present among your children. Lord, thank you also for journeying with us in our personal deserts, for destroying our enemies of sin and shame. You are a God who serves even to the point of giving your life so we will live forever. Advent has prepared me for this so I beg you to make it happen. Please come anew in my heart, mind and soul this Christmas. May I be the house you desire to live in. Come, Lord Jesus and be my houseguest always.  Amen.
