December 14, 2021 Tuesday of the 3rd Week of Advent-C ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS, PRIEST AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH

Zephaniah 3:1-2, 9-13

Psalm 34

Matthew 21:28-32

“Which of the two did his Father’s will?”  Matthew 21:31

Lord, I am both sons. I have, at times, said no to you but changed my mind and followed your will. I’ve also said yes I will do it but weakened and failed to keep my word to you. Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words do. Lord, you understand me so well. You know of my good intentions and you see my failures. Yet you never give up on me because you also see my potential. You have infinite patience.  Thank you for that. Lord, in this Advent season, help me to prepare for your birthday by seeing where I can more often say yes to you and stick to it. Let me change my no to yes. Never let me say “never.” Guide my heart to be open to your mercy. I can become, with the graces I receive in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and in the Mass, one whose yes means yes. One who does what he says he’ll do.  Lord unite my heart with yours today.  St. John please pray for me.  Amen.
