“…for nothing will be impossible for God.” Lk. 1:37
Lord, nothing? Really? We are so accustomed to limitations. Only so much time, so much money, so much energy. We are so used to mental and physical limits there are none on us in the Spirit. St. Paul says that in you we are blessed with “every spiritual blessing in the heavens.” Eph 1:3. Those blessings include Mary, our mother, who was your pure, spotless child chosen to be without sin. From her sinlessness came the faith and courage to say “Yes” to the angel and to God her Father even if she didn’t understand all that would come from her Yes. She was content with accepting your will for her entire life. Through her flowed the graces of our rescue from the darkness of sin and death. Lord I’m really blessed this day because you have adopted me as your special and precious child. Teach me today that with your grace I can achieve the impossible. I can turn from temptation and walk in your light. So that, at your side, I like Mary, can say “I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your word.” Holy Mary pray for us. Amen
