Daniel 6:12-28

Psalm Daniel 3:68-74

Luke 21:20-28

For he is the living God, enduring forever, his kingdom shall not be destroyed… Dan.6:27

“…stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.”  Lk. 21:28

Lord, on this day of gratitude we recall your countless blessings and gifts. We will thank you today for family, friends, food, homes, work and the many other ways you have placed goodness in our lives. I want to thank you for the gift of faith. Many times life can deal out devastating troubles and even crises. In the middle of a trial I can be overwhelmed with fear or even despair and forget your promises of salvation. Things looked very bad for Daniel when he was thrown to the lions. Things looked very bad for the Jews when you spoke of the coming destruction of their precious temple and city. Faith saved Daniel from the lions and your young church survived the devastating end of the temple. Faith is all I have when evil, illness, unemployment, or death come upon me. But your word assures me I will be rewarded in the end if I keep my head held high. You will shut the mouths of the lions of today and your kingdom will never be destroyed. Help me to continue to thank you for the gift of faith today and every day.  Amen.
