Jesus entered the temple and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things… Lk. 19:45

Lord, your word reminds us that our homes are temples where you dwell. Our places of worship are temples where we pray to God. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. The Maccabees purified the Jerusalem temple from defilement and rededicated it to you. When you drove out the money changers and those who were defiling the temple you purified it once again and made it a place of prayer to God. The Maccabees prepared a place for God to dwell once again. After you drove out those defiling the temple you entered it and taught the people about the love and presence of God. Lord, I am a sinner and so have defiled the temple of my body, mind and spirit. Once again purify me from sin so I can be a worthy place for your Spirit to live. Make my home a place of prayer where my family can rededicate themselves to you. Bless our parish church to be a place where we can gather and celebrate the gift of the Eucharist, your ultimate presence. May we celebrate you in the way we remain pure in every way.  Amen.
