2 Maccabees 7:1, 20-31

Psalm 17

Luke 19:11-28

…bore it courageously because of her hope in the Lord.  2 Macc. 7:20

“Engage in trade with these until I return.”  Lk. 19:13

Lord, you have entrusted us with continuing the growth of your kingdom until you return. During this time we have to choose how we will contribute to the building up of your church. Will I be like the servant who developed his master’s gift or like the one who hid his gift out of fear? How can I use the gifts, the time and the opportunities that are uniquely mine to bear fruit for your kingdom? I am not a powerful or important person in the grand scheme of things. If I give into fear or hesitate to use what you’ve entrusted to me I will disappoint you like the third servant in the gospel. I ask for the grace of courage to risk failure, ridicule or embarrassment. It requires me to step out in faith that you will provide what I need to accomplish the work only I can do. Who knows, I may be the only bible someone will read today. You may place someone in my path today who needs encouragement, understanding or forgiveness. I may bring a lonely person some joy or help a child who is discouraged. Whatever it is, Lord, with your help I am ready.  Amen.
