Romans 2:1-11

Psalm 62

Luke 11:42-46

Only in God is my soul at rest, from him comes my hope.  Ps. 62:2

“Woe to you Pharisees!”  Lk. 11:42

Lord, you often pointed out the shortcomings of the religious leaders of your time. The scribes and Pharisees failed to lead the people in faith and were not examples of real holiness. Today you highlighted their misleading practices of tithing and prideful self-seeking of honors. They neglected the most important laws: love of God and love of neighbor. You have every right to judge them for you are God. I, on the other hand, cannot judge them because unlike you, I cannot see into the depths of hearts. Unlike you, I rely too much on outward appearances and empty gestures which can distort judgment. Lord, increase my trust in you as the sole source of salvation. May my good works express my faith and love of you. May I not be satisfied with the minimum but surrender myself fully to you. May I be open to all the desires of your most Sacred Heart and leave the judgment to you. Dear Jesus, I only want to please you and to obey the will of my Father. Lead me today Lord, to a trust in and reliance on your grace without which I can do nothing.  Amen.
