Revelation 21:9-14

Psalm 145

John 1:45-51

“Can anything good come from Nazareth?  John 1:46

Lord, first impressions can very often be totally wrong and not reliable. I have been guilty of dismissing a person because of their appearance, their speech or the circumstances of our meeting. Bartholomew (Nathaniel) was skeptical about you because of where he was told you came from. He was even informed by his friend Phillip as to who you were and whose family you came from. His mind was closed until he met you. You saw into his heart and there was potential in him.  You saw enough that you invited him into your inner circle of followers. As always, you were right because he would go on to be a faithful witness for you. Lord, keep my mind and my heart open to whatever and whomever you call me to “come and see.” Help me not to judge people and dismiss them at first glance because we are all your children. Give me the patience to pray every time I am tempted to label someone before I know them. It was good Bartholomew was meditating on scripture when you first saw him. You picked a good man, Lord.  St. Bartholomew, pray for us.  Amen.
