Old men and old women…shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem.  Zech. 8:4

“Whoever receives this child in my name receives me.”  Lk. 9:48

Lord, thank you for giving us insight into the mind of God.  You correct our view of what is important to our Father and what life in your Kingdom is like.  Like your disciples, we are so impressed with winners and the competition for greatness.  The Super Bowl champion, the leading man or lady, the leaders of nations and corporations are who we usually consider the greatest in our world.  But your thoughts are not our thoughts and your ways not our ways.  While your followers were arguing over which of them was the most important, you showed them real greatness.   Those who human standards would consider useless you gave high places in the kingdom.  Pride and ego can distort our concepts of who we really are in the eyes of God.   Lord, look into my heart and show me the real value of the least among us.  Help me to see that doing your will and not competing for greatness is your plan for me.   Make my thoughts, your thoughts.  Please be patient with me as strive to live and love as you do.  Amen.
