Song of Songs 3:1-4 or 2 Corinthians 5:14-17

Psalm 63

John 20:1-2, 11-18

“Have you seen him whom my heart loves?”  Song of Songs 3:3

But Mary stayed outside the tomb weeping…  John 20:11

Lord, what a singular honor and blessing you bestowed on your faithful friend Mary Magdalene. She was the first to see you alive after you had risen. You rewarded her devotion and faithfulness to you. While the others had denied, betrayed and abandoned you, she walked the road to Calvary and stood at the foot of your cross. Before first light she came to your tomb. What courage and steadfast love! She joyfully reported the good news to your disciples that you had risen from the dead.  Lord, you don’t bless us or favor us because of our success or accomplishments. You do so because of our faith, love, commitment and devotion to you. When times get tough and when everyone else wants to give up may I stand my ground, not give in to fear and continue to hold on to you. Lord, I want to be your loyal and dedicated friend like Mary Magdalene. Make me your new creation. (2 Cor 5:17) Do not let my human weakness deter me from being true to you in thick or thin.  St. Mary Magdalene pray for us.  Amen.
