And they took offense at him. Mk. 6:3
Lord, how disappointed were you upon returning home to family and friends? They rejected you and couldn’t believe you were who you said you were. They knew of your miracles, heard your wise words and were familiar with your compassion and gentleness. It was so tragic they couldn’t see the Son of God in their midst. So what was the problem? Why were their minds closed and their hearts hardened? I don’t know about the people of Nazareth but I am familiar with what makes me tick. I can, at times, be so self-assured and prideful that I don’t accept your help. I don’t look for your presence in my weaknesses and heart aches. I want to make my own way, solve problems myself and to be honest your ways can be sometimes difficult for me. I can even on occasion blame you for my troubles. Are you amazed at my lack of faith? I pray for the faith to believe, like Paul, that your grace is sufficient for everything. When I am weak be my strength. Lord, I humbly kneel before you and ask for a heart and mind open to all you want for me. God Bless the USA. Amen.
