Acts of the Apostles 12:24—13:5

Psalm 67

John 12:44-55

The word of God continued to spread and grow.  Acts. 12:24

So may your way be known upon earth; among all nations, your salvation.  Ps. 67:4

Lord, we read today about a very big deal in your new Church. Paul and Barnabus were commissioned as missionaries to bring the good news of salvation to those outside the community of believers. After prayer and fasting the Holy Spirit inspired them to risk taking the gospel to Gentiles and pagans. Your two missionaries went forth boldly into the unknown but they were confident you were with them. The road was extremely difficult and danger was around every corner. Thanks to them many came to believe and the Church spread near and far. I have benefited from their witness. I have the witness of Paul in his inspired letters and his example of faithfulness to you. Lord, I’m not called to travel to unknown lands and preach to pagans. But I am called by my Baptism to live as if I have been saved. I have no idea who I may be able to influence today or how I will do it. But like Paul and Barnabus I believe in the word of truth and in your love for people of all races. May I receive the grace you gave them to do your will.  Amen.
