Acts of the Apostles 11:1-18

Psalm 42

John 10:1-10

Then will I go in to the altar of God the God of my gladness and joy;…Psalm 42:4

“I am the gate.  Whoever enters through me will be saved…John 10:9

Jesus your words today echo what you told your disciples at the Last Supper: “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) The Gentiles were trying to live in ways that pleased God but they were missing the most critical way. That way is you. Peter, being the leader of your young Church, broke the ice and welcomed them into your flock. This was highly controversial and he was well aware he would be criticized and perhaps lose some sheep in the process. But he was confident that the Holy Spirit was at work guiding and inspiring him and the new converts. How wonderful that you healed the division between Jew and Gentile in a most beautiful way. Lord, we have so many divisions in our country today. We are so in need of healing. Send your Holy Spirit to lead us back to you and to welcome those who are lost and trying to find their way to you. May your grace and your Word show us the path to unity and peace.  Amen.  Alleluia
