1 Timothy 3:1-13

Psalm 101

Luke 7:11-17

…Jesus gave him to his mother.  Lk. 7:15

Lord, as we grow to know you better we come to expect the “unexpected” from you.  As a widow with a dead son, this woman would have had no means of support.  If grief over the deaths of husband and son wasn’t enough, she faced a life of begging as her only means of living.   She may have wished that she too would die.  You took pity on her and raised her son to life without being asked for anything.  You have power over life and death.  Thank you for being a compassionate and loving Savior.   You have pity on us, a sinful people.  When we are in the death of sin, you feel pity for us too.  Whenever I sin I am in need of being raised up to new life.  You have made available to me the healing and restoring sacrament of Reconciliation so that I may not remain dead in my sins.  Lord, you have rescued me from the darkness of death and for that I am most grateful.  Help me to look for your “unexpected” intervention in my life today.   I believe that you want only the best for me.  Amen.
