Isaiah 65:17-21

Psalm 30

John 4:43-54

“Unless you people see signs and wonders you will not believe.”  John 4:48

Lord, you know how dependent we are on signs. They inform us where we are and where we are going. Signs of affection tell us we are loved and signs of danger warn us to be careful. We look for signs in candidates for office as to how they will govern. Signs from you can build our faith. They can guide our decisions and strengthen us in times of troubled. When we pray we seek signs that you have heard us and we look for signs that you answer. The royal official believed in you with only the sign of your word. Although he had little choice he went home in faith. Lord, help me to believe in your word too. Increase my faith so I can see your power at work around me. Open my eyes to recognize how your grand plan is developing before me. Let me not be fearful or discouraged in emptiness or distress for you are at work even then. Lord, thank you for both the bold and the subtle signs of your favor.  Amen.
