Genesis 4:1-15, 25

Psalm 50

Mark 8:11-13

He sighed from the depths of his spirit… Mk. 8:12

Lord, when someone we love hurts us we too can “sigh from the depth of our spirit.” With a mixture of disappointment, frustration, maybe even sadness or anger we are deeply affected personally. The Pharisees had an agenda to discredit you and to show you up to the people as a phony or an imposter. Their hearts were closed so you just walked away. How does one prove their love for someone? What signs could you have done to open a closed heart? Maybe dying on a cross? Today may be a day for me to look at my belief in you. Where are the holes in my faith? When do doubts leak in my trust in you? Does my love of you depend upon signs from heaven? Lord, I believe, help my unbelief.  I place my hopes, dreams, joys and sorrows in your loving hands. I open my heart for you to enter and fill me with yourself. Guide my mind and my spirit to give myself completely to you. Dear Jesus with full faith and trust in you and your total love for me I will not need signs from heaven.  Amen.
