Taking thought of her (Wisdom) is the perfection of prudence…

“…the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him.  Mt. 25:10

Lord, athletes around the world train hard for the Olympics games. They prepare themselves to achieve their goal: a gold medal.  Only those who planned, trained and were disciplined each day can win the prize.  Our time on earth is a preparation for eternity. Your word today reminds us to be ready for the day when you call us home. Unlike the Olympics I do not know when that day will come so I must be ready every day. I train for the wedding feast by staying faithful to your word, obeying your commandments of loving God and neighbor, and living like I’ve been saved. There is great hope, Lord, in your message today. You provide me the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to guide me. St. Paul tells us that “the faithful shall always be with the Lord.” I believe that I never walk alone. Lord, my prayer today is that I remain open to receive the oil of your transforming grace. Each day I will prepare for and look forward with hope to the wedding feast you have invited me to. Then, with all those who have gone before me, I will celebrate with great joy for all eternity.  Amen.
