For from him and through him and for him are all things.  Romans 11:36

“You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”  Matthew 16:45

Lord, we may never know if Peter fully understood his answer to your question. Peter’s faith was still developing. A little later in the gospel you tell him he is an obstacle and you liken him to Satan. But you looked into his heart and saw great potential there.  You chose him to receive the keys to the kingdom, a position of great responsibility in your infant church. Lord, you ask me who I believe you to be and my answer is the most important answer I’ll give to any question. My faith too is being developed. I may get it right today but get it wrong tomorrow. But like Peter I hope you don’t give up on me. For I believe you are the source of everything good in my life. Everything I have comes from you. I also believe you have chosen me for great things.  You have blessed me with gifts and opportunities to be your witness to others who have not met you yet. In this election year let us support men and women who will exercise authority to serve the good of all.  Thank you Lord, for the gift of faith to know, love and serve you.  Amen.
