…I found him whom my heart loves.  Song of Songs 3:4

Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early in the morning while it was still dark.  John 20:1

Lord, your close friend Mary Magdalene so wanted to be near you she couldn’t even wait for the sun to rise.  Little did she know that the son had already risen. She didn’t understand the empty tomb. But you rewarded her faithfulness by choosing her to be the first to see you and touch you after your resurrection. She was then the apostles to the apostles as she hurriedly brought them the best of all good news that you were alive. What a way to honor your close friend. She was so devoted to you. She wept perhaps suspecting grave robbers had taken you away. Your Father is the ultimate “grave robber” for all who believe in you. She first called you teacher them she addressed you as Lord. I wish I had known Mary Magdalene. She inspires me by her love and fidelity to you. Mary’s open heart allowed her to see you and experience firsthand the joy of your resurrection. She was the first of billions to be so blest. Lord, may I too be filled with the joy of being your disciple. And may I be as eager as Mary to tell everyone the good news that you are alive and near to all.  Amen.
