1 Kings 19:9, 11-16

Psalm 27

Matthew 5:27-32

After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound.  1 Kings 19:12

Wait for the Lord with courage; be stouthearted and wait for the Lord.  Ps. 27:14

Lord, Elijah didn’t hear you in the mighty wind, the earthquake or the raging fire. He waited with courage until the storms and fury had passed. He was a wanted man whose life was in danger from the pagan queen. You were his last hope. Elijah heard and obeyed. He trusted in you. You aren’t always the loudest or the most dramatic voice. Sometimes I need to be patient and let the storms of life pass before I can hear your voice. I know I have missed your message at times because my heart was not quiet. The Psalm today encourages me to be stout of heart and wait with courage. If I stay the course and remain faithful your message will enter my heart and your presence will be revealed. If I trust and remain open you will guide me through my fears to peace. I think you know me very well and am familiar with what’s in my heart. Lord, help me be more aware of your presence in my life especially in the storms and fire. Speak to me in whatever ways you choose.  Jesus I trust in you.  Speak Lord, your servant is listening.  Amen.
