Acts of the Apostles: 11:19-26

Psalm 87

John 10:22-30

The hand of the Lord was with them and a great number who believed turned to the Lord.   Acts 11:21

Lord, nobody I know of saw this pandemic coming. We all had plans for this year that did not include “stay at home orders” or a large number of sickness and deaths and a trashing of our economy with all the lost jobs. When things like this happen we can throw up our hands in despair and struggle to cope with the changes. Your mother Mary had plans too.  She was going to marry Joseph. The angel Gabriel changed many things for her in one visit.  Her trust in God and acceptance of his will made all the difference for her.  She married Joseph and became the mother of God.  What appeared to be an early end to this infant church due to persecution actually turned out to be a great expansion of it to unexpected people and nations. God had a better plan and it worked!  Lord, please help me to expect the unexpected from you. You are the God of surprises. I trust your ways are better than mine even when it appears different. You will make good even from a worldwide pandemic.  Amen Alleluia
