May 1, 2020 Friday of the 3rd Week of Easter –A ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER

Acts of the Apostles: 9:1-20

Psalm 117

Matthew 13:54-58

“Is he not the carpenter’s’ son?  Is not his mother named Mary?” Mt. 13:55

Lord, the people were right on both assumptions. You, Joseph and Mary are the Holy Family. You came to earth as a human being and were raised by two saintly parents as a human child. Joseph taught you the value of hard work and being honest in dealing with people.  They both taught you to pray and to respect your neighbors. While the people belittled your family tree and couldn’t grasp how you had gained such wisdom to teach in the synagogue, your father and mother prepared you well for the mission God had given you. Joseph is the spiritual father of all of us. Heavenly Father you laid down for us the law of work.  May the example of St. Joseph always be before us and under his patronage may we complete the works you set us to do and attain the rewards you promise. Jesus, I hope all people become aware of the benefits of praying to St. Joseph who lives in your presence, and is honored by you as his father. I pray my family will grow in holiness and virtue to follow the example of Joseph and Mary. Jesus, Mary and Joseph pray for us.  Amen. Alleluia
