April 30, 2020 Thursday of the 3rd Week of Easter –A

Acts 8:26-40

Psalm 66

John 6:44-51

“He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”  John 6:54

Lord Jesus, when I take the above words into my mind and their meaning into my heart with faith I am blest with the greatest truth of all.  These words of yours are extraordinary and difficult to understand without faith.  You repeated over and over again that you are the “Bread of Life” in John’s gospel.  Lord, I read chapter 6 over and over again so it becomes a part of me.  The Eucharistic miracle you describe is so wonderful a gift from you.  Your union with our Father in heaven is a guarantee that these words are true and I can have full confidence that receiving you in the Eucharist will nourish my spiritual life like nothing else can.  Like the Ethiopian servant on the road I need scripture and I need instruction like that provided by Phillip.  I also need a healthy prayer life and a desire to put my faith into action by serving my brothers and sisters.  Sadly during this pandemic most of us cannot now receive you in Holy Communion.  Lord, I hunger for the Eucharist and desire that you come to me spiritually each day until I can receive you again.  I believe that during this time you hunger to come to me in this great sacrament.  One day we will be joined together again.  Amen Alleluia
