Acts of the Apostles: 4, 32-37

Psalm 93

John 3:7-15

…they were distributed to each according to need.  Acts 4:35

Lord Jesus, in your time the young church must have been formed with strong, faith filled believers. The Apostles witnessed to your good news of the resurrection and the forgiveness of sins. The people responded with faith and action. They saw the needs of their brothers and sisters and made great sacrifices to meet those needs. Your church does the same today.  There is no other body in the world that is as generous as your Catholic Church in meeting the needs of the poor. St. Anselm as an abbot lived his faith until his death in 1109. He moved in the circles of kings, and nobles.  To the young men under his care he wrote: “Every soul requires its suitable food… The weak and tender in God’s service need milk of babes, gentleness from others, kindness, mercy, cheerful encouragement, loving forbearance.”  Lord I understand this as meeting people where they are. During this pandemic we have many opportunities to do just that. Show me Lord with your grace how to be as selfless and generous as the young church.  Amen Alleluia
