“…it is the Lord, your God, who marches with you; he will never fail you or forsake you.” Dt. 31:6
Lord, the Chosen People of Israel, after wandering 40 years in the wilderness, stood on the brink of the Promised Land. These descendents of slaves faced a huge challenge. Going into a land possessed by strong nations and armies was a fearful and uncertain prospect for them. Moses assured them over and over that their God was with them, would lead them and would protect them. To their credit they believed him, trusted in God and crossed over into the land that had been promised them. Lord, many of us face huge challenges and uncertain futures. Life’s trials and troubles can overcome us and so we hesitate to take the action needed. Where do you want to lead me today, dear Jesus? My faith tells me you are with me and will never leave me to walk alone. Whether my challenge is a hurtful relationship, job or career change or health issue, you will never fail or forsake me. No obstacle or difficulty is too big for you. Please give me the faith to be “brave and steadfast” as you march before me into battle. Fear is useless, what is needed is trust. Amen
