Matthew 28:1-10

God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good.  Gen.1:31

For if we have grown into union with him through a death like his, we shall also be united with him in the resurrection.  Rom6:5

Risen Lord, Lent is over. We have been brought into union with you by our prayer, fasting and charity. I pray dear Lord that this union will last throughout the year ahead. This is the night that sets Christian believers apart from worldly vices and from the gloom of sin. The darkness is gone and a glorious light has appeared on the earth. May I always follow that light so that I too can participate in the resurrection. There is nothing more in this life that I want more than to be united to you in your suffering and rising from the dead. I thank my parents for bringing me to the church for Baptism so I can share in your death. This Holy Week I have seen how you accepted the Father’s will in all things, may I do the same. Thank you for creating us and making us “very good.” I pray for all those being baptized this evening may they receive your light and nourish the gift of faith you have given them. I love the story of how you created this world and all that is in it. I also thank you for giving me the blessing to participate in that creation as a parent. This is a night of hope may I share this hope with all those who are hopeless.  Amen.
