1 Timothy 3:1-13
Psalm 101
Luke 7:11-17
“God has visited his people. Luke 7:16
Lord, we often go through life as if we are alone-that I am the only one I can count on. If I don’t do it, it won’t get done! That may be true of a sink full of dirty dishes but it’s not the case in our faith lives. This woman had lost her husband and then her only son. She was devastated. She found out the day of her son’s funeral that she was not alone. You had pity on this woman who found herself alone in the world. Jesus, you gave her son his life back and gave him back to his mother. You brought life to a place of death. You also demonstrated that you had power over death. You are near to all who suffer. My brothers and sisters are your body now bringing life to places of death and suffering. Lord, as you touched the dead man’s coffin touch me and bring to life anything that is dead in me. I thank you, Jesus, for visiting your people. St. Cornelius and St. Cyprian, pray for us. Amen.
