“Take courage, it is I” Matthew 14:27
Lord, if the wind and the waves that stormy night weren’t enough your friends were filled with fear when they thought you were a ghost. As you so often do, you told them that there was nothing to fear. Peter made an attempt at courage as he stepped from the boat onto the sea but he faltered. You were there to save him and calm the waves and the wind. Lord, sometimes my faith can be very fragile. It’s easy to be faithful and walk with courage when the sea of life is calm. When the storms come our trust and confidence can waver. Lord, in tough times I ask for your grace. I need your courage. Help me not to give in to fear. Come to me on the sea with your love and total commitment to me. Nothing that life can throw at me is beyond your power to calm. I’m confident and unafraid with you in the boat with me. Amen.
