Trust in the Lord forever! For the Lord is an eternal Rock.  Is. 26:4

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” Mt. 7:24

Lord, your words today are encouraging to me for when I am living my life in today’s world.  They are common sense to a person of faith.  Building a house to live in requires the builder to follow certain construction codes to ensure that the house will be sturdy.  To make sure it will stand up to storms and sinkholes.   My life is the same.  I must listen to you and act on what I hear to build my life of faith and justice.  If I don’t wisely act on what you have taught me it will be like a house that is never built according to the codes of safety when wind and rain come.  The rock foundation of my decisions and priorities must be built on you and not the sand of the world.  Lord, I pray I will remember these wise and just words throughout this day.  I pray that I will depend on you as my rock of safety and strength.  I can’t enter your kingdom just by saying the right words.  Advent is the time to reflect on and change the ways I go about my business of building my house of faith.  Amen
