2 John 4-9

Psalm 119

Luke 17:26-37

For this is love, that we walk according to his commandments… 2 John 6

“Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it…” Lk. 17:33

Lord, it’s so easy to get wrapped up in our day-to-day cares and activities that we forget the ultimate and final times of our lives.  We also tend to put off or procrastinate over making changes in the way we go about our spiritual living.  You offer a warning that we all will one day end our time on earth and will meet you face to face.  You urge us to be ready for that moment by living in obedience to your two commandments of love.  There is a temptation to forget that I am not in charge, you are.  Complacency and idleness are enemies of vigilance and readiness.  I think this means that you want me to live each day as if it were my last.  You want my priorities to be you and your ways.  I pray, Lord, I can put aside my own agenda in favor of yours.  May I seek your guidance in my decisions and place all my concerns and worries at the foot of your cross.  Reshape my heart to desire what you desire for me.  Lastly, show me what I need to lose in order to save my life.  Amen
