…he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem… Luke 9:51
Lord, rejection was nothing new to you. Your parents saved you from a mad king. Your friends and neighbors in your hometown wanted to kill you and the Samaritans wanted nothing to do with you. Then the ultimate rejection of your suffering and death at the hands of your beloved people in Jerusalem. All this had to break your very human heart. How could they not see you as the source of mercy and forgiveness. Some did tax collectors, adulterers, thieves, lying and cheating sinners. I have even rejected you and I know who you are! I have experienced your mercy and love, heard your word and still have fallen short of your desire for me. But you have “resolutely determined” to give me another chance, continue to seek my heart and never give up on me. Lord, I rejoice in your commitment to save me and bring me close to you. You are welcome in my life anytime. St. Therese pray for us. Amen.
