1 Corinthians 4:6-15

Psalm 145

Luke 6:1-5

“The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”  Luke 6:5

Lord, thank you for again setting our priorities straight.  We sometimes don’t see the forest for the trees.  The Pharisees were so filled with false piety they were blind to the human needs around them.  You showed them compassion trumps legalism.  You have authority over all law.  You have authority directly from God.  Lord, I pray today to receive and apply the grace to make choices based on what you see as important.  Help me not to be so mechanical in my piety, legalistic in my actions or sterile in my worship.  Show me how to correctly observe the Sabbath and any other ideals you have for me.  Loving you and living the abundant life is not about completing a checklist.  It’s about giving and surrendering myself to you each day.  Lord don’t let me become blind like the Pharisees.  I trust in your grace and your word to guide me always.  “The Lord is just in all his ways and holy in all his works.” (Ps. 145:17) Be near to me when I call upon you.  Amen.
