Jeremiah 1:1, 4-10

Psalm 71

Matthew 13: 1-9

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you…”  Jeremiah 1:5

“But some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit…”  Matthew 13:8

Lord, you created me in this particular time, place and circumstance.  You formed me with carefully chosen gifts, talents and experiences.  I was picked to be who I am for a reason.  I am not here by accident or chance.  Why have you done this?  What is the reason for my existence?  When I read your story of the sower, I get the answer that I am to bear fruit in your kingdom.  There is certain work you’ve given only to me.  Lord, it’s a little scary, this trust you’ve placed in me.  Sometimes when my seed falls on rocky ground or the foot path, I think this responsibility is too much for me.  And it is!  Jeremiah had the same concern.  You told him not to worry, that you would be with him always as you are with me.  I can only do this work with your help and guidance.  Remind me of this when I feel overwhelmed.  May I today, Lord, bear the fruit you created me to bear.  Amen.
