Job 38:1, 8-11

Psalm 107

2 Corinthians 5:14-17

Mark 4:35-41

The Lord addressed Job out of the storm… Job 38:1

“Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”  Mark 4:38

Lord, on the day of that great storm on the sea were you testing your followers’ faith?  To them you seemed not to care about their harrowing situation.  Were you more bothered by their lack of faith in your power or in their doubting your concern for them?  Maybe I have asked this same question during storms in my life.  In any event this question brings to light a lack of trust in you and a failure to understand who you are.  Lord, please grow my faith in your power and my understanding of your love.  When appearances are that you are uncaring about the storms of my life anchor my heart to a solid rock of faith in you.  Guide me to a safe harbor where your healing grace is abundant.  Do not let the winds of fear or the waves of worry overwhelm me.  Tell them all to be quiet and still.  Amen
