Micah 7:14-15, 18-20
Psalm 103
Luke 15:1-3, 11-32
You will cast into the depths of the sea all my sins. Micah 7:19
He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him. Lk. 15:20
Lord, the father in your story was ready to forgive no matter what. He had scanned the horizon for the return of his son since his departure. When he saw him in the distance he ran with abandon. He didn’t need an apology, an explanation or an admission of guilt. Just the sight of his son coming home filled him with joy. The father had been hurt deeply by the poor choices of his son but he let it all go. Something the son’s brother could not do. Lord, I too have made bad choices. I have misused your gifts. I have gone away from you. I too don’t deserve to be called your son or daughter. The point of the story is that you will run to me, embrace me and kiss me when I come back to you. No matter what my sin you cast it away into the sea. I am overwhelmed with your unconditional, constant and total forgiveness and mercy. Lord Jesus, I rejoice at how quickly I am accepted back into your good and loving arms. Amen.
