Isaiah 1:10, 16-20
Psalm 50
Matthew 23:1-12
Come now, let us set things right, says the Lord. Isaiah 1:18
“Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Mt. 23:12
Lord, I’m very aware of that unsettled feeling when I’ve messed up my relationship with someone. Having a family member or close friend upset with me is disturbing. I’m not at peace when things aren’t right with my spouse or someone else I care about. So, I can humble myself then adjust my mistake and ask to be forgiven. It often works and we can move on and let bygones be bygones. Lord, it’s even worse when things are not right between you and me. When pride or selfishness live in me, I’m not happy or at peace. You have done so much for me. You have been overwhelmingly generous to me. I’m so very sorry for having sinned against you. Lift from me the weight of the burdens I carry. Wash my feet and cleanse me of my sins. Make things right between us. Lord, thank you for your abundant mercy and your patient understanding. Hear the prayers of my heart. Amen.
