January 4, 2020 Christmas Weekday (Saturday) ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON, RELIGIOUS

1 John 3:7-10

Psalm 98

John 1:35-42

“What are you looking for?”  John 1:38

Lord, we often ask children what they want to be when they grow up.  It’s an easy answer when we are nine years old.  But when we are older and out in the world it can be a tough question to answer.  You asked John the Baptists disciples this question.  All Israel had been looking for a Messiah for hundreds of years.  It was in the back of everyone’s mind.  The two were kind of stumped and didn’t really answer the question.  If you asked me this question I’d have to think about it for a while.  There are a lot of possible answers.  Many of them having to do with this world, my family, health and other priorities.  But when it comes right down to it I am looking for you.  Dear Jesus, nothing else matters if I don’t remain in you.  I am looking for eternal life with you for myself and my family.  If I don’t achieve that nothing else matters.  Lord Jesus quiet my mind so I can be filled up with your love.  Help me to find what I really am looking for from the depths of my heart.  Mother Seton, pray for us.  Amen.
