“Everyone is looking for you.” Mk.1: 37
Lord, what a day you had! You completely immersed yourself into the lives of the people around you. In one day, you preached in the synagogue, healed Peter’s mother-in-law, drove out demons and cured those suffering late into the night. Even when you slipped away for prayer time with your Father, they came looking for you to do more for them. We are a very selfish people, aren’t we? Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving yourself totally to us. You held nothing back when you entered completely into our lives, our families, our joys and our sorrows. You are there in the maternity ward, in our schools, homes, marriages, divorces, illnesses and are at our bedside when we die. You chose to experience the full range of human activity both the good and the bad. And then you paid the ultimate price on the cross for us. You know everything about us and are closer to us than our own skin. Dear Jesus, I love you for how you refuse to leave us to ourselves even when we aren’t aware of your closeness. Thank you, Lord, for being my life’s companion. Amen.
