Isaiah 11:1-10
Psalm 72
Luke 10:21-24
“…although you have hidden these things from the wise and learned you have revealed them to the childlike.” Lk. 10:21
Lord, in your prayer to your Father you noted that the key to knowing Him is not our education level or power status in the world. The smartest, most clever people among us often don’t “get it” when it comes to truly knowing you. The advantage goes to the simple, the humble, and to those with open hearts who are like little children. I don’t need a PhD. in theology to know of your love. I don’t need to be a bishop or priest to be touched by your mercy. In truth, I’ll bet much of the time higher education, power and self-importance get in the way of faith. Lord, help me to experience your love in the daily grind of life. With a childlike hope I look forward to the days prophesied by Isaiah. Show me the power of your grace when I struggle. Lead me to make good choices and judgments when making decisions. You blessed me with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit at my baptism and for that I thank you. Develop those gifts within me so I can truly see the Father in you and you in me. Amen.
