Isaiah 7:10-14

Psalm 24

Luke 1:26-38

Then the angel departed from her.  Lk. 1:38

Lord, what did Mary do the moment the angel left her?  Did she give thanks to God for the great honor and privilege of being the mother of the Messiah?  Did she silently touch her abdomen and lift up a prayer to her Lord in her womb?  Did she begin to think of all the things that were going to change in her life because of her “yes” to the angel?  Did she want to run and tell her parents or Joseph what had just happened?   Scripture doesn’t tell us anything other than her visit to Elizabeth her cousin who was also miraculously pregnant.   Mary was filled with the Holy Spirit so I’m sure she prayed and meditated a lot on how God was going to make all this turn out for the best.  Lord, I pray for the trust and surrender of Mary to your will.  As a young, unmarried girl she faced serious obstacles with family and friends.  But your grace carried her through them all and she brought you forth and faithfully followed you to the cross and the grave.   Lord, bless me with the peace of knowing I am doing your will.  Amen.
