Leviticus 25:1, 8-17
Psalm 67
Matthew 14:1-12
“Do not deal unfairly with one another but stand in fear of your God.” Leviticus 25:17
Lord, we are accountable to you for all we have. You demand we be responsible, fair and just in our dealings with each other. We are to resist the temptation to take advantage of others or to deal dishonestly with them because all we do you see. We are but stewards of this planet you’ve given us. We are all on it together. You have told us that we must care when our brothers and sisters are suffering. You assure us that there is enough for all, but we must take good care that none of your children are deprived or exploited. And if they are, we’ll stand before you one day and all will be known. I can’t solve world hunger or eliminate all poverty, but I can make a difference to those you put in my life. So let me today, accept your generous gifts and take on a new attitude of reverence for you. Guide me to be grateful for every moment of life, every meal, every breath of fresh air. All I have is yours my Lord—I’ll take good care of it until you call me home. Amen.
