Psalm 124

Matthew 10:34–11:1

Our help is in the name of the Lord.  Psalm 124:8

“Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”  Mt. 10:39

Lord, I really feel overwhelmed today. When I got up this morning I was greeted by more problems than I could count. There were more obstacles, more troubles, more enemies. So much drags me down: poor health, family squabbles, money worries, car trouble and uncertain future. Even the country I love seems to be coming apart at the seams. Your word today urges us to put everything in proper order. You come first and everything else, even family ties come second. There is so much in life over which I have little or no control. But I do have control over my response to trials. You have blessed me with the gift of faith in you. Although our world rejects you, I won’t. When all seems lost, my help and my hope are in your name, Lord.  Right now I lay all my troubles, worries and fears at your feet and look for you to rescue me from them. Lift up my drooping spirit Lord, for I trust in you completely. Be my champion this day, Lord. I thank you in advance for all you will save, protect and strengthen me for today.  Amen.
